The year was 1976 when John Williamson, Mike Jakubisin came to Myrtle Beach with father in law Jim Clapp. Jim had just started golfing a few years early and John had been married for less than a year. Sandy and Carol thought it was a great idea for Mike and John to take their father on a golf trip. I am sure they did not think it would turn into a tradition. Now in March of 2015, we will be making our 40th consecutive spring trip with the guys to Myrtle Beach. The group has grown and changed annually with friends and relatives of John, Mike and Jim. For many years, we came with 12 to 16 golfers that included Al Williamson Sr., Jim Clapp, Mike Jakubisin, Ralph Williamson, John Williamson, Al Williamson Jr. and many of our closest friends. The Alumni list is on a separate page and it shows the names, number of years attended and the first year for each person.
Early on we stayed at a variety of hotels or resorts and back then there was only 18 golf courses to choose from. That number of courses at the peak was well over 100 as Myrtle gained popularity.
